2027 Governance Camp Schedule

Note: This schedule is tentative and subject to change. 

Submit a Session 

Your voice belongs at Camp! 

We’re looking for sessions and demos that highlight what is working in Texas Public Schools, specifically policy and programs that elevate Student Voice, strengthen student achievement, and inspire action through innovative governance practices.  Share your success stories, real-world lessons, and new ideas that can spark fresh thinking that helps boards lead with the purpose of shaping the next chapter of public education.  

Submissions are now open until: Nov. 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (CT) 

Session Submission Reminders 

• No more than two (2) applications per school district or organization will be eligible for consideration, per session type. (Max 2 - Leadership & Governance and/or Max 2 Student Voice) 
• Educational, neutral, and free of commercial motivation or intent. 
• All proposed content leaders must be listed. "To Be Determined" or blank placeholders for panelists or co-presenters will not be accepted. (Student Names Not Collected) 
• Sales and/or vendor submissions will NOT be accepted. 
• Include at least one (1) TEA Registered Provider for Governance and Student Voice sessions  

Presenter Agreement and Reminders 

• Submitting a session(s) does not guarantee acceptance.   
• TASB will not contact co-presenters, it is Submitter/Primary Contact’s responsibility to relay all session guidelines and information to the primary presenter/co-presenters, including:   
• Primary Presenter: must sign Presenter Agreement   
• All presenters must agree to Event Terms and Conditions during registration (Payments and Refunds, Cancellation, Civility, Consent to Photography and Recording, Non-Endorsement, and Marketing/Solicitation) during registration (Payments and Refunds, Cancellation, Civility, Consent to Photography and Recording, Non-Endorsement, and Marketing/Solicitation).  
• All presenters, co-presenters, support staff and chaperones must register for the conference, including paying the appropriate fee to attend.  

Complimentary Registration Exceptions  

1. TASB Member Districts, with an accepted ISD session, are eligible to receive a maximum of two (2) complementary full-conference registrations, intended for the Superintendent and Board President.  
   • The total number of complimentary full registrations is limited to two (2) per district, regardless of how many sessions or presentation category types are accepted. (Non-ISD presenters, including companies, organizations, and consultants, are not eligible for complimentary registration.) 
2. First two (2) chaperones for each Student Voice Accepted Session. (Student Voice Presentations and/or Student Inspired District Demonstrations)  

2027 Scholarship Opportunity

Your experience. Your perspective. Your voice.

Each year, five Texas public high school seniors are selected to receive a scholarship and share their unique public-school journeys during TASB’s Governance Camp in Galveston.

The Student Scholarship and Panel gives school board members and education leaders the opportunity to hear directly from students about the experiences that have shaped them and their ideas for the future of Texas public education.

Applications open Dec. 15, 2026, and close Jan. 15, 2027, at 5 p.m. (CT)

Is This Opportunity for You?

Do you have a public-school story to share? We want to hear about the experiences, relationships, opportunities, and challenges that have shaped you and your ideas for making Texas public schools better for students.

The application invites you to reflect on your background and goals, how you have worked with others, what student voice means to you, and how schools can help students feel heard.

Scholarship Award

Each selected student will receive:

• A $1,500 scholarship, generously sponsored by Walsh Gallegos.
• Hotel, travel, and meal costs covered within the program’s allowance.
• The opportunity to share their story and perspectives with Texas school board members and education leaders.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be current Texas public high school seniors.

Selected students must attend the following activities in Galveston, Texas:

• Wednesday, March 3, 2027: Scholarship Dinner
• Thursday, March 4, 2027: Student Scholarship Panel through lunch 

During the panel, recipients will participate in a conversation about their public-school experiences, the importance of student voice, and their ideas for improving the student experience.

Governance Camp takes place March 3–6, 2027. Scholarship recipients’ required activities are Wednesday’s dinner and Thursday’s until 2 p.m.

What Does the Application Include?

Applicants will briefly introduce themselves and respond to questions about:

• Their background, interests, passions, and goals.
• Public-school experiences that have shaped who they are.
• Working with others to bring attention to an important issue.
• Challenges they have navigated and the strengths that helped them.
• What student voice means and how schools support it.
• A recommendation to improve the student experience in Texas public schools.

A recommendation letter is also required.

Application Information

The application opens Dec. 15, 2026, and must be submitted by Jan. 15, 2027, at 5 p.m. (CT).
