Help shape TASB's Advocacy Agenda!
Registration for the 2014 TASB Grassroots Meetings is now open. Direct TASB's advocacy efforts by laying the foundation for TASB's Advocacy Priorities, which will guide the Association during the 84th Session of the Texas Legislature. The meetings will occur between Jan. 7 and Feb. 26 in all 20 education service center regions across the state. Learn more and register.
Delegates Amend Advocacy Agenda
School board members representing districts from across the state recently adopted changes to the 2012-14 TASB Advocacy Agenda during the 2013 Delegate Assembly in Dallas. The updated agenda reflects legislation enacted by the 83rd Legislature earlier this year. Delegates amended TASB's Cornerstone Principles, Priorities and Resolutions.

Aiming to get the word out about public school districts’ successes and combat mainstream media’s trend of negative publicity toward public education, Bexar County’s 15 independent school districts have banded together in a unique collaborative campaign known as Go Public. Read about this and more in the February/March 2014 Texas Lone Star.
On March 4, the Central Heights ISD Board of Trustees named Bryan Lee as the lone finalist for the position of superintendent. Lee currently serves as superintendent in Iredell ISD. He began his career as a teacher in Nacogdoches and Chireno ISDs. Lee also served as assistant principal in Diboll ISD and principal in Garrison, Mount Enterprise, and Star ISDs.
The Central Heights board is scheduled to vote to hire Lee after the 21-day waiting period required by state law.
