Reducing Personnel Costs
School districts around the state report that their budgets are getting leaner. Often, tight budgets lead to reductions in spending on school personnel. In this session, we will discuss options for reducing personnel costs including reducing or freezing compensation. The discussion will focus on ways to lower costs while avoiding a reducing in force (RIF), as well as how to successfully apply the district’s RIF policy when necessary.

This session will focus on legal concerns about the use of social media, personal devices, and district networks, including how the Public Information Act governs the rights and obligations of school districts, requestors, and records custodians, in today’s digital environment.
