A School Business Official’s Guide to Board Policy

When school business questions come up, board policy should be your go-to resource — not a document you only open when there’s a problem. This collaborative webinar from TASB Policy Service and TASBO shows school business officials how to use the board policy manual as a practical, everyday decision-making tool.

The session will take a focused look at Section C policies that impact finance and operations, including fiscal management, budgeting, and purchasing. Participants will explore real-world policy applications related to fund balance, capitalization thresholds, and micro-purchase thresholds, with an emphasis on clarity, consistency, and compliance.

Presented by Carolyn Austin, Assistant Director for TASB Policy Service, and Kristi Clark, TASBO Chief Policy Officer, this session provides actionable insight you can apply immediately to your daily work.

If you have questions you’d like us to consider ahead of time, submit them through this survey by March 27. This allows our team to research your questions in advance, and we’ll still include dedicated time for a live Q&A.

Fee: $85

After registering with Zoom, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to join the webinar. This link is good for one user; multiple users from your district will need to register separately. Check out the Training and Events Calendar for more training opportunities.

Registration questions can be sent to registrar@tasb.org. For additional information about Policy Service training, email policy.service@tasb.org, or call 800-580-7529.
