TASA, TASB, and TASBO Present Budget Cohort
The 2023-2024 Texas District Leaders Budget Cohort program kicks off with a webinar on September 12, 2023.
The event is a collaboration between the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), and the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO). Participants can earn up to 30 hours of training credits consisting of a combination of webinars and face-to-face meetings at the associations’ regularly scheduled conferences.
The cohort model is based on the superintendent and chief officers for finance, curriculum, human resources, and operations attending the training together. It is designed to allow districts to better use their finance and business functions to support and enhance other areas, including curriculum and instruction, human resources, special programs, and operations. Districts may send three to five participants.
The September 12 webinar topic is Preparing for the October Student Snapshot to maximize state funding.
The second session will be in-person on September 28 at txEDCON23 TASA|TASB Convention. The topics include the following:
- District Data: Using District Data to Assess Current and Future Needs
- Where are you now, and where will you be at the end of the fiscal year?
- Legislative Update
- Share survey results
- Focus on Communications
Sessions three and four will be webinars on November 7 and December 5, respectively. HR Services staff will present the December 5 webinar on the following three topics:
- Budget Implication of Chapter 21 Contracts
- Strategic Compensation Administration
- Maximizing Staffing
Five additional sessions are scheduled through June 2024. Registration information, event and webinar dates, and a full agenda for all nine sessions can be found on the TASBO event website.
