T-TESS Refresh: Stakeholder Engagement Opportunities

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is inviting educators, district leaders, and partners to participate in the upcoming refresh of the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).

T-TESS is undergoing updates to align with recently revised educator standards and evolving instructional practices. The changes, prompted by recent legislation, aim to clarify educator expectations and support continuous professional growth.

The two key opportunities for stakeholder involvement include:

  • T-TESS Stakeholder Advisory Committee: This committee will provide feedback, support implementation planning, and ensure the new system reflects the realities of Texas classrooms. District leaders are encouraged to share this opportunity with teachers, school leaders, and administrators who can offer insight. The T-TESS Stakeholder Advisory Committee application deadline is August 4, 2025.
  • Field Testing: Districts can volunteer to be part of the field-testing process of the revised rubric. This commitment involves one scheduled visit with district leaders, access to between five and ten diverse K-12 classrooms, and opportunities to engage with classroom teachers. Districts interested in supporting the field testing should complete the T-TESS Field Test Interest Form by August 8, 2025.

The updated appraisal system will maintain the core strengths and integrity of T-TESS, with refinements that more clearly define effective teaching, support educator growth, and improve student outcomes.

For more information on the topic, check out TEA’s correspondence on the T-TESS Refresh Engagement and Future Updates.
