Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes Training

TASB offers Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes (EISO) — formerly referred to as SB 1566 training — that helps you accomplish mandatory training requirements on evaluating student academic performance and setting individual campus goals for early childhood literacy and mathematics and college, career and military readiness.

Newly elected or appointed trustees must complete the student outcomes and setting goals training within their first 120 days. All Texas school board members must receive three hours of this training every two years.

TASB’s training is a research-based way for school board members to meet the training requirements. It highlights practices shown to strengthen board-superintendent relationships and improve student achievement. The training gives trustees tools to:

  • Understand research on what boards can do that makes a difference for students
  • Interpret available student performance data and what it means for future student success
  • Set meaningful goals for student achievement
  • Make monitoring progress a central part of the board’s work
  • Comply with the legal requirements for the board in evaluating student academic performance and setting individual campus goals

It also includes opportunities for participants to assess how their board is currently performing when it comes to oversight and strategic leadership for student academic achievement.

Here are two ways for board members to get the Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes training.

At TASB Conferences

Join TASB staff at our major conferences (Governance Camp, Summer Leadership Institute, and the TASA | TASB Convention) for an interactive session on the school board's role in leading and supporting improved student learning. Completion of these will meet trustees biennial three-hour requirement for EISO board development.

In-District Training From TASB

Get the training brought straight to your district. You’ll benefit from being able to look more closely at your own student achievement data, and your leadership team may be able to receive team-building training credit if the entire team is present.

Schedule it today: board.dev@tasb.org or 800-580-8272, extension 2453.
