HR Hot Topics
Districts reach out to TASB HR Services for assistance and guidance with a wide variety of HR issues, but each year, trends emerge. This session will cover many of the “hot topics” districts have inquired about in the past few months and will be presented in a scenario-based format. Board members will have the opportunity to learn from an HR Services consultant how to manage and respond to timely HR issues in this engaging and interactive session.

Navigating Change: Special Education Trends, Compliance Requirements, and Governance Considerations
Texas school districts continue to experience significant shifts in special education enrollment, services, and student needs. This session will provide school board trustees with a clear overview of recent population changes in special education in Texas and what those trends mean for district planning. Participants will explore how evolving student needs may impact staffing, budgeting, programs, and compliance. The session will equip trustees with practical considerations and guiding questions to support informed governance, strategic planning, and sustainable support for students receiving special education services.

Legal and Policy Hot Topics
A TASB attorney will offer updates on legal developments affecting public school employees, students, parents, business operations, governance, and more. We’ll take a deeper dive into policies affecting library materials, compliance with laws on parental rights, clubs, and curriculum, as well as AI.

Let's Talk About It: Good Governance
School districts across the state might face similar challenges, but your regional context can influence how they play out in your particular district. Join the conversation with a panel of trustees from Region 4 to discuss challenges and solutions from a local perspective.
