Join fellow Texas school trustees to support public schools and students at the federal level during the 2026 Texas Federal Advocacy Conference February 2-3 in Washington, DC. Specifically designed for school trustees to influence federal education policy, the first day of the conference will feature influential speakers and educational panels designed to inform trustees about the latest developments in federal education policy while the second day will focus on meetings with legislators at the US Capitol.
Early Registration Fee: $325 from Sept. 8-Dec. 31, 2025.
Regular Registration Fee: $375 after Jan. 1, 2026 until the day of the event.
Note: Conference registration fees are payable by credit card (school district card preferred) or purchase order. In accordance with a new State Board of Education (SBOE) rule, the 2026 Texas Federal Advocacy Conference does not qualify for continuing education credit.
The conference will be held at the Willard InterContinental Hotel, 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20004.
TASB has secured a special discounted room rate of $309 per night for attendees.
Housing information, including rates, will be available in the confirmation email you will receive when you register for the conference.
In an effort to encourage participation of trustees from each Texas congressional district (38 total), TASB is offering stipends to help reduce the cost of attending the conference.
TASB will award 33 stipends that will cover the cost of conference registration and five enhanced stipends that will cover conference registration and partial reimbursement of travel and lodging expenses.
If multiple school boards apply from the same congressional district, recipients will be selected based on the strength of their responses to the essay question in the application.
Only one stipend will be awarded per selected member school board, and each selected board will designate which trustee will use the stipend. This does not preclude additional trustees from the same board from attending the conference at the district’s or their own expense.
Priority for enhanced stipends will be given to school boards that demonstrate significant financial need and/or represent geographically remote communities.
Stipend registration opened on Sept. 15 and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 24.
Those wishing to apply for a stipend must first register for the conference.
