Service Record Resources Added to HR Library

To support HR departments across the state, new service record resources are now available in the Personnel Records section of the HR Library (member login required).

School districts often struggle with the maintenance of service records including the evaluation and calculation of creditable service and the recording of state sick and personal leave. To provide guidance in the use of the commissioner’s rules regarding creditable service, the following resources have been added to the HR Library:

  • Calculating Service Credit — information on the commissioner’s rules, timing of credit, and Teacher Retirement System rules
  • Creditable Entities — requirements for each entity recognized for professional personnel service credit and a list of regional accrediting agencies recognized by the Texas Education Agency
  • Creditable Service for Salary Purposes — information on minimum salary requirements, other recognized service, and documentation and credentials
  • Definitions — a list of words and terms defined in the commissioner’s rules on creditable service
  • Maintenance and Errors — service record maintenance information for annual updates, employee records requests, and requesting records from other entities; identifying errors; and what to do when records are lost
  • Service Record Form — a pdf copy of the Teacher Service Record (Form FIN-115)
  • Teacher Service Record — general teacher service record information including requirements and state sick and personal leave
