You’re at an educational session at a TASB training event when the continuing education credit number pops up on the screen at the front of the room. Now what? It’s time to report your training credits. Here are a few things to know about this important process:

  1. You must report your credits within 24 hours of the overall event's conclusion. For example, if the event ends at noon on Friday, you have until noon Saturday to self-report.
  2. You can use myCEC to report credits from TASB events. District personnel cannot do this for you. Go to tasb.org/mycec to record your training credits from TASB. It’s a good idea to make sure you are able to sign in before you head to an event.
  3. Your district superintendent or administrative professional can run your full credit report from the Continuing Education Credit Reporting Service (CECRS) to help you keep track of all required training. See all your required trainings at a glance.
  4. If you forget to report credit during the allotted timeframe, email cec@tasb.org and we can help you! You can also fill out the continuing education credit form if you missed a deadline.
  5. All major TASB events will have staff members who will be able to assist members with reporting credit at a dedicated station. You can also ask anyone with a TASB name tag to point you in the right direction.

Districts are the official recordkeeper of trustee training credits, but it’s important to note that they are not required to report non-TASB credit to TASB. Both myCEC and CECRS are recordkeeping tools to support board members and the district in maintaining accurate records of trustee training requirements each year. TASB makes it easy for you to report and track your continuing education credits so that you can stay focused on your important work as a Texas school board trustee.
