Upcoming HR Services Training Opportunities
Upcoming workshops from HR Services include compensation-related topics and the in-person Advanced HR Seminar.
Understanding Wage and Hour Law is scheduled as a virtual workshop on Oct. 22 and 23 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day. Understanding the basic components of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) can reduce a district’s risk of wage and hour complaints and costly penalties. This hands-on workshop will help HR and payroll staff understand the federal regulations and learn how to properly calculate nonexempt employee pay.
Understanding Compensation in Colleges is a virtual workshop designed for community college staff who administer pay, recommend salaries, or explain compensation to employees or the board of trustees. Key components of pay administration will be covered including pay strategies, pay structures, pay adjustments, and placement for new or promoted employees. This workshop will take place on Nov. 12 and 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day.
Administering Pay Plans takes a deeper dive into pay systems and covers complex compensation topics. Learn more about the different types of pay equity, how to evaluate and adjust pay structures, methods for job placement, and best practices for individual salary determination. Includes hands-on practice and is designed for staff with some compensation experience. Understanding Compensation in Schools is recommended as a prerequisite for staff with little to no prior compensation experience. Join us on Nov. 19 and 20 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day.
HR Services' Advanced HR Seminar is an annual event for experienced HR staff who are ready to go beyond the basics or have already attended HR Academy. We're excited to host the in-person Seminar on Nov. 6 and 7 at TASB Headquarters in Austin, TX.
We hope to see you soon!
