TEA Releases Annual Report and Updated Dashboards
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released its 2024 Annual Report — a compilation of priorities, statistics, and achievements related to the year in education.
The report includes sections on the TEA strategic plan, school safety, student demographics, school funding, special education, assessment, a national comparison, and spotlights on the Agency’s strategic priorities:
- Recruit, support, and retain teachers and principals
- Build a foundation for reading and math
- Connect high school to career and college
- Improve low-performing schools
Of note, TEA reports that in the 2023-2024 school year, 56 percent of teachers hired new to the profession were uncertified. Updated data regarding teacher preparation, certification pathways, and new teacher hires is available through TEA’s Newly Certified and New Teacher Hires Dashboards.
