Najera Elected to State Association Board
Austin— Cynthia Najera of Socorro ISD has been elected to a one-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 19. The election was held during the Association’s 2023 Delegate Assembly on Sept. 30 in Dallas.
Najera was elected to the Socorro ISD Board of Trustees in 2010. During her tenure on the board, she has held numerous leadership positions, including four terms as president, and she is currently vice-president. She is an active district volunteer, serving as a parent liaison and volunteer coordinator for Americas High School and Horizon Heights Elementary School.
She has worked in several positions with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Agricultural Extension Service. She also is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Horizon City.
Najera is a 2015 graduate of Leadership TASB and a Master Trustee. On the state level, she has served on the TASB Legislative Advisory Council (LAC) and as a LAC representative on the TASB Legislative Committee. She is also involved with the Far West Texas School Boards Association.
