Mackey Elected to Interim Position on State Association Board

Austin— The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors has elected Stephen Mackey of Blanco ISD to an interim position on the TASB Board, representing TASB Region 13, Position B.

Mackey was elected to the Blanco ISD Board of Trustees in 2024. A proud first-generation college graduate who attended Texas public schools, Mackey is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned a B.S. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary.

An author and public speaker, Mackey launched 2Words Character Development in 2017 to help athletes and coaches make connections between sports and life. His work focuses on character, mindset, and culture. Mackey’s mission is to develop championship people — students, teachers, and leaders — who build cultures of character and impact.

Mackey also founded and leads The Texas Way in partnership with the Texas High School Coaches Association, Texas High School Athletic Directors Association, and UIL. The program is a statewide character and sportsmanship initiative for coaches, athletes, officials, and fans.
