HR-Related Policies in Policy Update 126
TASB Policy Service and TASB Legal Services are working quickly to update policies impacted by the 89th Texas Regular Legislative Session and plan to send Update 126 to districts beginning in mid-October.
Several HR-related legal policies are impacted by bills passed in the regular session and will be included in this update. Following is a list of topics and corresponding policy codes that will be addressed:
- Requirements for reporting employee misconduct (CJA, DF, DFBA, DFBB, DFE, DGC, DHB, DHC, DP)
- Reduced deadline for reporting child abuse (DG)
- Expanded list of employees and service providers required to complete pre-employment affidavits (DBA, DBAA)
- Restrictions on administrators’ outside employment (DBD)
- Reduced vacancy posting timeline for certified positions (DC)
- TRS surcharges and ability to pass costs to rehired retirees (DEA)
- Teacher retention allotment requirements (DEAA)
- Teacher choice to not use paid leave during FML for pregnancy or birth or adoption (DEC)
- Employee right to pray during work hours (DGA)
- Updated grievance processes (FNG, DGBA)
