Flexible Work is Key to Retention

According to a survey from FlexJobs, nearly a third of workers have sought new employment because their employer didn’t offer flexible work opportunities, as reported by SHRM.

To stay competitive, school entities should consider adopting flexible work policies for employees other than instructional professionals.

According to the survey:

  • Eighty percent of respondents said they would be more loyal to their employers if they had flexible work options.
  • Seventy-eight percent said flexible work would allow them to lead a healthier life.
  • Fifty-two percent said they have tried to negotiate flexible work arrangements with their current companies.

When considering flexible work arrangements, keep in mind employees aren’t the only ones who benefit. A well-crafted flexible work policy aligned with the entity’s strategy can result in happier, more productive employees.
