Legislative Leadership Calls for Agency Cuts
Citing the rising costs of living and homeownership for Texans, Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and House Speaker Dustin Burrows issued guidance to all state agencies to reduce their budgets by 3% as they prepare their Legislative Appropriations Request for the upcoming session.
In their joint statement, the leaders instructed agency budget writers to exempt some initiatives from budget cuts, including the Foundation School Program and the Texas Education Savings Account Program.
