(Austin) — James B. Crow has announced his plan to retire as Executive Director of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) after serving more than 25 years in that position. He will retire August 31, 2021.

The TASB Board of Directors has engaged Korn Ferry to conduct a national search, which will begin in January. A special committee of the TASB Board of Directors has been appointed to coordinate the search.

Crow joined the TASB staff in 1981, working in Governmental Relations and other positions until his appointment to the top post in 1995.

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local public school boards. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.4 million students.
