(Austin)―Executive Director James B. Crow announced today that Dan Troxell has been named Deputy Executive Director for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). Dr. Troxell currently serves as superintendent for Leander ISD. He has also had extensive leadership experience in Kerrville, Cypress-Fairbanks, Allen, and Round Rock ISDs.

In addition to his work in Texas school districts, he has served on the TASB Risk Management Fund Board of Trustees since 2005, and in 2008, he was named Superintendent of the Year by TASB.

He currently serves as a board member for the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce, as a member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce DTC70 Executive Committee, as a member of the UIL Legislative Council, and as chair of the UIL Standing Committee on Academics.

Dr. Troxell has a BA with honors in government from The University of Texas, an MEd in education administration from Southwest Texas State University, and a PhD in education administration from The University of Texas.

“I am really pleased that we have been able to attract someone so well respected in the Texas school community as well as so familiar with TASB and its services,” said Crow. “I know he will strengthen TASB’s ability to serve our members.”

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local Texas school boards. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.34 million public school students.
