(Austin)—The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has elected Nicholas Phillips of Nederland ISD to fill the interim position on the TASB Board of Directors, representing Region 5. A Leadership TASB graduate and master trustee, he has served on his local board for seven years and held the positions of board secretary, vice-president, and president. Phillips, who is an associate principal at West Brook High School in Beaumont ISD, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Lamar University.

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local public school boards. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.4 million students.
