Texas Trustee Institute

New school board trustees: Get the specialized training and tools you need to be a confident and engaged member of your school board.

As a first-year school board member, you have a lot to learn about district policy and governance. Luckily, Texas Trustee Institute (TTI) offers new board members an immersive learning experience specifically designed to fit their needs. The Institute provides specialized training to create a successful launch into school governance for those new board members who seek a strong foundational understanding of their role in improving student outcomes.

When you participate in TTI, you benefit from in-person development opportunities, a networking cohort, and must-have training opportunities. In addition, new trustees can find courses, which are available for on-demand study, anytime and anywhere, in the Online Learning Center (OLC).

TTI is offered at in-person events, including Summer Leadership Institute and TASA | TASB Convention. In addition to governance and student outcomes, some of the topics that are covered during TTI include:

  • Role of a Texas School Board Trustee
  • School Law 101
  • Digital Life as a Board Member
  • Open Meetings Act
  • District Policy Basics
  • Working as a Body Corporate

How Do I Get Started?

TTI is offered for newly elected trustees at all major TASB events and workshops. Register for the conference most convenient to you and check the program for the session.
