TEA to Evaluate Education Preparation Programs

In an effort to assess educator preparation program (EPP) effectiveness, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is gathering data via principal and first-year teacher surveys.

First-year teachers and their principals are required by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) to complete a survey about the preparation of those teachers. The principal surveys are located in the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS), and principals will complete a survey for each first-year teacher on their campus. Teacher surveys will be sent as a link via email. Early career teachers should update their email address in ECOS prior to April 1, 2020.

Key dates include:

  • March 19, 2020: HR personnel access ECOS to verify principal roster
  • April 1, 2020: Principals access surveys, teachers receive survey link
  • June 15, 2020: Deadline for principal and teacher survey submission

More information can be found on the TEA website.
