Each principal who has first-year teachers on his or her campus is required by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) to complete a survey about the preparation of those first-year teachers.
Additionally, all first-year teachers on a standard teaching certificate are required to complete a survey about their preparation at the end of the year.
It’s important for the surveys to be completed with validity because the information provided will assist in improving the preparation of teacher candidates through educator preparation programs (EPPs). Principals and teachers will receive Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits upon completion of each survey.
Information regarding the surveys were emailed to human resources personnel and principals using the Texas Education Directory (Ask TED) in early April. Human resources personnel currently have access to their principal rosters on the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS) and should verify the accuracy of the roster.
First-year teachers will receive a link to the Teacher Survey via the email address they listed on the ECOS. Although this is a busy time of year for district personnel, it’s a good idea to remind teachers to update their email address in their ECOS account and encourage principals and teacher to take the time to conscientiously and accurately complete the survey.
All surveys are due June 17, 2019. For additional timelines, please go to the TEA website.
