Statewide highlights from the 2020–2021 TASB/TASA Superintendent Salary Survey have been released.
Highlight data comes from 672 district participants representing 66 percent of districts in Texas. The data included 21 interim superintendents and one part-time/non-interim superintendent who have been excluded from the analysis.
Of responding districts:
- Median superintendent salary is $137,314, which is 4 percent higher than median last year.
- Median pay increase was 3 percent; increases were granted to 73 percent of returning superintendents.
- The least common benefits are additional life insurance, long-term disability, and TRS service credit purchases (fewer than 4 percent of districts).
- The most common benefits are health insurance and dues for membership to organizations/clubs (more than 65 percent of districts).
