Strategic Staffing Guidance
The Administrator’s Guide to Strategic Staffing is a useful tool for administrators responsible for planning strategic staffing decisions.
We’re pleased to announce the release of the fourth in our series of guides for school administrators. The newest addition, The Administrator’s Guide to Strategic Staffing, provides districts with the tools for implementing a strategic staffing model to ensure the appropriate allocation of employees necessary to operate efficiently to meet student needs. Districts can use the information to develop a model that provides equitable distribution of resources, alignment with the district’s mission and vision, and an efficient process for making current and future adjustments.
This guide breaks staffing in public school districts into the following categories:
- Foundations of Strategic Staffing
- Campus Professional and Paraprofessional Support
- Teachers
- Special Programs
- Central Administration
- Auxiliary Staffing
The Guide is the newest resource available to districts developing and implementing strategic staffing practices. Districts can also engage HR Services consultants to conduct a staffing review which provides a customized, detailed roadmap of recommendations to achieve optimal staffing efficiency and effectiveness. Additionally, our workshop, Spending Wisely: The Intersection of Staffing and Pay, will be presented November 30–December 1, 2022. This workshop will help attendees identify how staffing allocations and compensation can work together to achieve district goals.
Topics covered include:
- Using staffing benchmarks by job group
- Comparing staffing levels against peers
- Understanding pay structure fundamentals
- Using job market analysis
- Understanding and setting teacher staffing and pay
