Revised Local Schedule SD Released
The Sample Records Retention Schedule for personnel records in the HR Library has been updated to include all the changes in Local Schedule SD—Records of Public School Districts, published by the Texas State Library (TSL). The new edition, effective May 23, 2018, is available on the TSL website.
Highlights of the changes in this edition include the following:
- Added a new category for alternative certification program (ACP) records
- Renamed “Deficiency Plan” to “Temporary Teaching Status Authorizations” and expanded the list of applicable records
- Updated the Performance Appraisal section to include a reference to Texas Education Code authorizing the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS). Changes were made to the retention period for observation/evaluation forms and appraiser notes or similar documentation.
- Deleted obsolete records, including Statements of Commitment, Statement of Intention to Become a United States Citizen, and Tuberculosis Certificate.

April Mabry oversees HR Services training services, member library products, and the HRX newsletter. She has provided HR training and guidance to Texas public schools since 1991. Mabry was a classroom teacher for 11 years in Texas and Michigan.
Mabry has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Michigan and certification as a professional in human resources (PHR) and is a SHRM-CP.
