Spanel Reelected to State Association Board
Austin— Cindy Spanel of Highland Park ISD-Potter County has been reelected to a three-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 16. The election was held during the Association’s 2022 Delegate Assembly on Sept. 24 in San Antonio.
Spanel has been on the Highland Park ISD-Potter County Board since 2004, serving as secretary for six years and vice-president for four years. She is a 2010 graduate of Leadership TASB and a Master Trustee.
She is a member of Panhandle Area Association of School Boards and secretary of the Potter/Randal Country Appraisal Board, where she has served for nine years. In addition, she served as a board member and secretary of the Amarillo Highland Park Education Foundation.
Currently semiretired, Spanel is a veteran of the United States Navy. She served 1974–77, with an honorable discharge, disabled veteran. She earned an associate of applied science degree from Amarillo College.
Spanel is active in her community, teaching a fitness class at her church, doing competitive cattle sorting, and serving as a substitute teacher for Amarillo ISD.
