Data Reveals Significant Gender Pay Gaps Persist

Based on research conducted by the Society for Human Resource Professionals (SHRM), 70 percent of HR professionals acknowledge that women still encounter discrimination in the labor market.

Data indicates that the gender pay gap has seen minimal improvement over the past few decades. The SHRM article delves into the ongoing issues of gender pay disparities and the initiatives aimed at resolving them. Key points include:

  1. Prevalence of gender pay gaps: Women earn 83 cents for every dollar men earn, with the gap widening for higher positions, remote workers, and working mothers.
  2. Pay perception differences: Men and women have differing views on gender equity, with more men than women believing women receive equal pay and fair treatment.
  3. Employer actions: More employers are analyzing compensation strategies and taking steps to close wage gaps, such as listing salary ranges and increasing pay transparency.
  4. Pay transparency: Studies show salary transparency can help close the pay gap, leading to more job applications and higher quality candidates.
  5. Regular pay audits: More organizations are performing regular pay equity audits focusing on gender, race, and age to ensure fair compensation practices.
