Cuellar Reelected to State Association Board

(Austin)—The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has reelected Yolanda Cuellar of South Texas ISD to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 1, Position B.

Cuellar has been a member of the South Texas ISD Board since 2008 and is currently board vice-president. She has more than 30 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher and a campus and district administrator.

A graduate of Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a bachelor of science in elementary education, she also has a master’s of education in reading from The University of Texas-Pan American.

Her community involvement includes serving as a University of Texas Rio Grande Valley College of Science board member, Weslaco Chamber of Commerce Leadership Mid Valley program participant, and Weslaco Museum board member. Cuellar is a Leadership TASB Master Trustee.

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve public school boards. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.4 million public school students.
