Mark Tilley

Mark joined TASB Legal Services as a staff attorney in 2007 and is now Lead Attorney for Legal Advocacy. Mark serves as liaison to TASB’s Governmental Relations Division and as the Coordinator for TASB's Legal Assistance Fund. Mark also works with TASB Policy Service to develop legally referenced policies for school district policy manuals.

Mark received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1995 and earned his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1999. During law school, Mark worked as a legal assistant with the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services in Lubbock and as a clerk for a school law firm in Austin.

From 1999 to 2007, Mark worked in private practice in Austin, where he represented public school districts, education service centers, and community colleges across Texas.

Mark is a member of the School Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, serving as Chair in 2018-2019, and is a member of the Texas Council of School Attorneys. 

Mark's parents are both retired educators. His father was a school superintendent for 15 years and his mother spent her career as an elementary teacher and high school librarian. Mark’s daughter is in middle school in Austin ISD.
