Julie Allen

Julie joined the TASB Legal Services Division in September of 2017.

At TASB, Julie supports Policy Service’s development of resources in the Regulation Resource Manual and reviews unique district policies. She also writes articles and provides legal training on open meetings, public information, data privacy, cybersecurity, and other school law school law topics. Prior to joining TASB, Julie served as interim general counsel to a state agency, general counsel to an urban Houston-area school district, and represented clients in both private and public sectors.

Julie is a member of the School Law and Juvenile Law sections of the State Bar of Texas, and an active volunteer in her community.

Julie graduated magna cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s in journalism while writing for The Daily Texan, The Dallas Morning News, and Tribune Media Services. She received her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law, where she was an editor on the Texas Journal of Civil Liberties & Civil Rights, a writer for The National Jurist, and published research on suicide watch protocols in juvenile detention facilities.

In her spare time, Julie enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time in the great outdoors with her family and their beloved rescue mutt.
