Student Voice

Governance Camp (formerly known as Winter Governance Seminar) believes that student voice matters, and has infused student participation in this unique two and a half day conference by highlighting the incredible students in our state. We believe that we cannot create the leaders of tomorrow without letting them lead today.

Student Voice sessions

Student voice logoWe are actively seeking sessions for Friday, February 28, 2020, presented or copresented by students. Each session is one hour in length. Students can focus on:

  • Student-led initiatives that have transformed their school;
  • Projects that have had an impact on school culture and climate;
  • Technology development and findings;
  • And more!

The students who are presenting these sessions are also invited to join our attendees at breakfast, the General Session, and lunch on Friday. These kids spend a lot of time at school, and the open seating events at Governance Camp on Friday provide a valuable opportunity for attendees to socialize with the students and discuss what student voice looks like at their school.

Depending on travel distance, hotel cost may be picked up by TASB.

Submissions are due to Kathy Dundee on Friday, December 6, 2019.

For more information about Student Voice Sessions, read our Student Voice Sessions Frequently Asked Questions (pdf).

Students inspired

We are calling on students -- individually or groups -- to lead hands-on interactive experiences or demonstrations in an "exhibition" style setting. We're looking for a variety of exhibits, from demos of student-designed video games to health studies to visual arts and music and crafts like carpentry and welding. Their work should provide attendees an engaged learning experience while showing them ways to help students improve their personal K-12 learning journeys.

Submissions are due to Kathy Dundee by Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Depending on travel distance, hotel cost may be picked up by TASB. Students are welcome to join attendees for breakfast and lunch on Friday.
