Facility Assessments / Planning Membership

Facility assessments are key to understanding what is going on both inside and outside of your campuses and pinpointing key issues that may need to be addressed.

TASB Facility Services now offers a Planning Membership which incorporates all the benefits of our facility assessments as well as access to the exclusive TASB Facility Dashboard. The Dashboard provides comprehensive district-wide assessment data in one central location displayed in an intuitive web-based format. It is an excellent tool for strategic M&O planning, budgeting, and preparing for bond elections. The dashboard is also mobile-friendly, allowing you to view your district's data anywhere!

Our assessments measure the quality, substantially, functionality, and educational effectiveness of school facilities. As a Planning Member, you will receive:

  • Facility Assessments of all district facilities which include:
    • Capacity analysis: Obtain a clear picture of the total and functional space, utilization, and efficiency of your facilities.
    • Educational Adequacy Assessment: Establish how well your current and future educational programs are supported by your facilities and future facility plans.
    • Site, Systems & Components, and Condition assessment: Understand the physical state of facilities right now, including building envelope, building systems, code compliance, and maintenance needs.
    • Site Safety & Security evaluation: Assess the safety and security measures in place for the protection of students, staff, and visitors.

Maintenance and Operation Staffing Analysis

The more organized your team is, the better they perform. TASB will develop a customized plan to help optimize the efficiency of custodial, grounds, and maintenance and operations staffing for your district.

The TASB Facility Services maintenance and operations (M&O) staffing analysis helps your district:

  • Establish department standards
  • Maintain operational and inventory efficiency
  • Establish proper custodial, maintenance, and grounds staffing levels for areas that require daily cleaning and routine maintenance

The analysis is based on three criteria:

  • District building and equipment specifications
  • Industry-wide standard cleaning times
  • Custodial staff tasks and work schedules

We’ll combine industry standards with your district’s facility specifications to develop a customized, comprehensive staffing report for you. Each report provides:

  • Complete analysis of district facility information to support staffing and budget decisions.
  • Recommendations that are customized to your district, using age of your facilities, building material types, equipment, and procedures.
  • Recommendations on deficiencies and best practices within industry standards to help guide an effective M&O department.

Bond Election Assistance

TASB Cooperative Strategies Logo

TASB Facility Services, along with preferred provider Cooperative Strategies, can assist your district with the daunting task of preparing for a bond election. We have the expert personnel to help districts that are navigating through the bond process, including facility assessment, planning the bond project scope, and communicating with the public.

Our systematic method of reaching out to a community and receiving critical feedback aids school districts in planning and financing their facilities. This encourages the collaboration of educators, administrators, policy makers, community members, and facility experts. Specifically, we help to build consensus about facilities issues that can often be challenging, such as attendance boundary/redistricting of school sites or prioritizing facilities funding for specific projects.

TASB Talks bonds podcast, covers the process for calling a bond election — what school districts need to know during the campaign and post-election.
