Student Video Contest

Texas Students: Overcomers. Learners. Achievers.

Back by popular demand, we hope this year's Student Video Contest is bigger and better than ever! Make a creative video showing how your school has learned and grown in the face of adversity.

Rural, urban, big, small—every school community faces its own unique set of challenges each school year. Your job is to highlight how your school has boldy overcome barriers to support students, teachers, and public education as a whole.

Collaborate with your classmates to come up with a creative video telling the world about:

  • A challenge your school has faced and how you overcame it
  • The life skills taught in your school to help you push past adversity
  • How your school works together as a team no matter what
  • How and why Texas public schools are strong, resilient, and successful

Want to know what it takes to win?

In each category (elementary, middle/junior, and high school) there will be a first prize of $5,000 and a second prize of $2,500 awarded to the school to be used in the winners' classroom.

Are you ready to work with your classmates to create an inspiring video? Here's how to get started:

  • Take a look at the winners from the last Student Video Contest to get some ideas.
  • Read over this year's contest rules and details.
  • Check out the guidelines (pdf) used for the judging process to find out what the judges will be looking for.
  • Submit your video for consideration between December 1, 2020 and January 21, 2021.

Although we provide you with the basic guidelines, there are no clear-cut instructions for creating a winning video. Put your heart into it and collaborate with classmates to create a genuine and unique video featuring your school to show everyone why they should stand behind Texas public schools.
