COVID-19 Safety Measures

Our goal: Spread knowledge, not germs

TASB's COVID-19 safety measures are intended to prioritize the health and safety of attendees at large events. The measures are dynamic in that they may change in response to current public health conditions and guidance.

Providing a safe environment for our members, guests, and staff is our top priority. Achieving this is a shared responsibility. Please join us in our efforts to bring TASB events back in-person and enhance the safety of our events by complying with applicable governmental regulations and these safety measures.

We require a face covering whenever you're in public areas of the hotel and conference space. Conference and event seating will be set up to observe social distancing. We need your support to practice social distancing by staying at least six feet apart from other attendees and persons (except those who live in your same household) when in public areas of the hotel and conference spaces.

Event safety measures

TASB is working closely with the San Antonio and Fort Worth venues to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for large gatherings to the extent feasible.

TASB asks all in-person attendees, including registrants and sponsors to:

  • Wear a mask or other appropriate face covering while in public spaces of the hotel.
  • Practice social distancing.
  • Wash hands often.
  • If you start to feel sick or to display COVID-19 symptoms, do not attend any conference activities or come within six feet of others. Please remain in your hotel room and notify the TASB registrar at registrar@tasb.org.

All registrants must agree to the following COVID-19 Compliance and Waiver:

Registrant acknowledges that in-person attendance at an event is completely voluntary.  Registrant further acknowledges that remote, virtual participation is available as an alternative to in-person attendance. By registering for this event, registrant hereby waives any and all claims against TASB, including its agents and representatives, for any COVID-19 exposure or related illness or harm that results from registrant’s in-person participation in this event.  Registrant further agrees to comply with the COVID-19 Safety Measures published by TASB and any safety guidelines or protocols posted or communicated onsite by TASB, the host venue, or any governmental authority.

TASB will take the following measures for the health and safety of attendees:

  • Collaborate with the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio and the Omni in Fort Worth to follow public health safety protocols for room set-ups, meeting room capacities, and food and beverage service.
  • Ask attendees to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms, and temperature checks may be conducted for attendees and TASB staff.
  • Install physical barriers (i.e., sneeze guards) in areas where it’s difficult for individuals to remain at least six feet apart.
  • Make available multiple entrances and exits to discourage crowding in hallways and waiting areas.
  • Limit opportunities for both staff and attendees to repeatedly touch/share the same objects (i.e., pens, serving utensils, door handles, etc.).
  • Help to reduce lines and encourage people to stay at least six feet apart through signage, floor decals, and other visual cues.
  • Rely upon the Marriott Commitment to Clean and the Omni Safe & Clean rigorous schedules for increased cleaning and disinfection.
  • Communicate regularly with our attendees regarding COVID-19 safety measures.
