Call for presentations

Are you interested in being a content leader at Governance Camp? If you want to talk, we want to listen. TASB is always looking for thought-provoking, informative sessions on topics that inspire deep thought about our members' work in their districts.

Governance Camp is an annual conference launched by a powerful idea - student voice matters. That spark is fueled each year by powerful presenters and forward-thinking districts. Camp is where district leaders come together as a community to educate and inspire one another. Thursday's sessions are devoted to Governance: District Culture, Advocacy, Fiscal Responsibility, Policy and Legal, Teamwork, and Student Achievement. Friday's sessions focus on Texas public school students' real-life education experiences that impact student achievement and outcomes.

All TASB members and education leaders are invited and encouraged to submit a session proposal. In addition, please feel free to forward the applications to education experts who you think would be good presenters for Camp.

Visit the Call for Presentations page for more information about these opportunities.

Arrive Wednesday and get a jumpstart on the conference by attending the preconference session and a welcome reception.

Thursday morning begins with the Opening General Session before attendees select individual educational sessions. Concurrent sessions in the morning and afternoon are broken up by a group lunch where trustees can eat and mingle for an hour.

Friday begins and ends with a General Session, and the educational sessions this day are either presented or co-presented by students.

Stay through Saturday and check-off required training from your ‘to-do’ list: Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes (EISO): The Board’s Role in Continuous Improvement. This SB1566 session is required of each trustee every two years.

Why powered by student voice?

Research shows that dropout rates, student achievement, and workforce readiness will improve by integrating student voices in the classroom and society. The Student Voice movement aims to give all students a voice in their own education.  Governance Camp believes that student voice matters and has infused student participation in this unique two-and-a-half-day conference by highlighting the incredible students in our state. We believe that we cannot create the leaders of tomorrow without letting them lead today.

Registration and housing

Both registration for the conference and hotel reservations will open in mid to late January. So expect a digital brochure to hit your inbox this October with all the details around Gov Camp.
