Policy Service will begin sending Update 122 packets to districts beginning in late October 2023. This update will include policy recommendations to address many of the legislative changes from the Regular Session of the 88th Legislature, which ended on May 29, 2023.

This will be a large update consisting of approximately 110 legal policies in addition to the following local policies and topics:

  • CQB — cybersecurity (SB 271)
  • DC — employment of bus drivers (HB 1789)
  • EHB — dyslexia and related disorders (HB 3928)
  • EHBCA — accelerated instruction (HB 1416; provisions on accelerated instruction will be relocated to this new policy code from EHBC(LOCAL) to align with changes made to the associated legal policies in Update 121)
  • FEA — career investigation days (SB 68)
  • FFAC —opioid antagonists (SB 629)
  • FFB — threat assessments (HB 3SB 1720)
  • FL — student records (HB 1416)

Other policies that will be in Update 122 include:

  • CSA — safety and security

Contact your policy consultant if your district is considering revisions to or development of any of these local codes.

Remember: Timely adoption of your localized updates is important to ensure that your manual reflects current law.

Please note: On August 3, 2023, Policy Service emailed to district superintendents and policy contacts the 2023 Post-Legislative Policy Changes Policy Alert (TASB login needed). The Alert included information on other policy implications and revisions that would be handled separately as a local district update based on information your district provides to your policy consultant.

Regulations Resource Manual (RRM) Update 68 will be available in mid-October. This RRM update will include revisions of model regulations and forms corresponding with Update 122.

District superintendents, administrative professionals, and policy contacts will receive an email from Policy Service when the revised RRM is online.
