Presentation Tips and Talking Points

Districts can choose to make presentations at school board meetings, at the place of business, or at special recognition receptions or banquets.

Sample News Release

Once you know the date, time, and location of where the presentation will be made, complete the Sample News Release and send it to media outlets in your area.

Honoree Packets

The following items are mailed to the district superintendent for each entity to be recognized:

  • Presentation folder
  • Personalized certificate (repeat and fifth year of recognition honorees noted here) suitable for framing or mounting
  • Congratulatory letter from TASB Executive Director Jim Crow
  • Decal for the company to place on the business door or window
  • “We proudly support Texas public schools!” counter/desktop sign to display for customers or members to see
  • Stand Up for Texas Public Schools lapel pin to present to the representative of each recognized entity

Before the recognition presentation begins, you might put the lapel pin on the honoree to ensure it is visible in photos.

The presentation might go like this:

Today we are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize special friends of this district (or campus).

(Review the ways the honoree has helped.)

Here at _______________ (district name) ISD, we know the value of the help we have received from ____________________ (honoree), and we are deeply appreciative of this partnership. We are pleased to announce that the generosity you have shown is now recognized at the state level. The Texas Association of School Boards joins with us in honoring your valuable support for our schools.

I’d like to present this recognition certificate and pin to you in grateful appreciation for all you have done for this school district. Inside the folder you will find a letter thanking you for your support and a window decal and a countertop sign that we hope you will display encouraging others to follow your lead to Stand Up for Texas Public Schools.

When the packet and lapel pin are presented, it would be a good time to take photos. We encourage you to share photos of your presentations with us by submitting them by e-mail to We will post some photos on our website and in social media and use them in publications to spread the news about the organizations “standing up” in your community.
