Continuing Education Credit Requirements

Requirements for school board member continuing education are described primarily in a rule adopted by the State Board of Education. In addition, as elected officials, board members are required to receive Open Meetings Act (OMA) training.

Maintaining records

The district is the official record keeper of board member continuing education credit information. In most districts, the superintendent or the superintendent's secretary performs this task. The data that TASB maintains through CECRS is a supplemental source of information designed to assist the district with its recordkeeping efforts, but should not serve as the distict's official record.
