Training and Presentations

TASB policy consultants typically provide three kinds of training for districts.

  • Conference sessions. TASB policy consultants regularly address topical issues at education conferences around the state. Click here for upcoming presentations.
  • Introduction to policy making and policy maintenance. Often—but not necessarily—provided in the context of a Policy Review Session, the policy consultant meets with the school board to cover policy making, policy manual maintenance, and the respective roles of policy and administrative procedure in the district. It's an excellent educational opportunity for new board members and new superintendents. Trustees receive approximately one hour of training credit.
  • Training for district policy contacts. The TASB policy consultant teaches the district's designated policy contact—who may be a superintendent, the superintendent's administrative assistant, or another administrator—the fine details of policy manual maintenance, including how to get the most from your membership in TASB Policy Service. This training is informal and can happen in person or by telephone.
