Julie Allen

Julie joined the TASB Legal Services Division in September of 2017.

Prior to joining TASB, Julie represented a variety of clients in both private and public sectors, including most recently serving as interim general counsel to a large state agency and general counsel to an urban Houston-area school district.

Julie is a member of the School Law and Government Law sections of the State Bar of Texas, a volunteer with Austin Partners in Education, former president of the Austin Asian American Bar Association, and serves on various State Bar of Texas committees.

Julie graduated magna cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in journalism while writing for The Daily Texan and The Dallas Morning News. Julie then received her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law, where she was an editor on the Texas Journal of Civil Liberties & Civil Rights, a writer for The National Jurist, a student attorney in the UT Immigration Clinic, and an exchange student at the University of Melbourne in Australia. Her research on suicide watch protocols in juvenile detention facilities was published in the Texas State Bar Juvenile Law Section Newsletter.

In her spare time, Julie enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time in the great outdoors with her husband, two sons, and a rescue mutt.
