Presentation types

Adult learners usually prefer to engage in self-directed learning, and that philosophy drives the SLI approach to conference programming. Learning formats support a range of instructional methods that give attendees more control over setting priorities and choosing the right content and techniques that match their learning styles and objectives.

  • Concurrent Sessions (75 minutes): These sessions are the educational backbone of the conference and must be 75 minutes in length. The material must be of value to our attendees (90% school board members), reflect the mission and vision of TASB and provide a truly interactive learning experience. Please note, sessions that let out earlier than 70 minutes will not be included in future conferences.
  • In-Depth Sessions (150 minutes): Highly-interactive presentations given by 1 or 2 content leaders, developing skills through collaborative learning. The course will likely be prepared for a specific subgroup of our membership like new board members, board presidents or experienced board members.
  • Mastermind Classes (75 minutes): Designed by experienced board members for experienced board members for practical instruction to enhance capabilities and critical skills. Objectives may be to improve the learner’s ability to lead change, manage high-performing teams, and develop leadership throughout their district.

Session categories

TASB is excited to announce new session categories for SLI. These leading-edge tracks set a new standard for research and solutions that will help us create a dynamic program related to improving student achievement.
