Classifying Jobs and Managing Pay Actions

Description: Proper classification of jobs lays the foundation for district pay plans. Job classification involves determining how to place jobs into pay groups and assigning each job to the best pay grade level. In addition, pay plan administrators must assume responsibility for managing individual pay actions and maintaining internal pay controls. This workshop will address these issues and outline the processes involved. Seasoned compensation consultants will provide participants with hands-on practice and guided instruction.

  • Using market pricing in job classification
  • Determining starting pay for new hires
  • Managing pay adjustments and controlling movement through the range

Managing State and Federal Leave

Description: The challenges of leave administration include keeping up with who is absent, what type of leave applies, and managing notifications and return to work processes. This workshop explains the various types of leave benefits for public school employees and how they interact. Strategies for communicating with departments and employees, coordinating leave and workers’ compensation benefits, and absence control strategies will be discussed.

Get a Grip on the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Description:  Every leave request is unique, so how do you get a grip on all the rules for applying and processing family and medical leave?  Using actual situations in exercises and case studies, participants will learn how to apply the FMLA regulations, identify potential problem areas, and develop procedures for administering family and medical leave.  Scenarios related to standard FMLA, leave for qualifying exigency, and military caregiver leave will be used to discover answers to the most frequently asked family and medical leave questions.

Cancellation Policy: Registrants may cancel their registrations and receive a full refund if the notification of cancellation reaches the Association seven business days before the event. Registrants will receive a 50 percent refund of the registration fee if the notification of cancellation reaches the Association four business days before the event. If cancellation is not received four business days before the event, no refunds will be provided, but substitutions of name changes for the registration will be permitted. You must use the TASB Cancellation Request Form in order to have your cancellation processed correctly.
 
If TASB must cancel the event, TASB will refund the registration in full but will not be responsible for any indirect, special, or consequential damages (including transportation, lodging, and meal costs) sustained by the registrant.
