Senate Ed to Consider Educator Prep Programs
The Senate Education Committee will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 18, in E1.028 to hear invited testimony on its interim charge to study educator and principal preparation programs through colleges of education and alternative certification. The committee is tasked with making recommendations to improve these programs.
The charge also instructs the committee to:
examine strategies to improve recruitment of high-quality teachers;
examine alternative approaches to improving teacher retention; and
study the benefits of comprehensive induction and mentoring programs.
