Deadline for 15% Deferral Approaching

Reminder:  Notice to TEA regarding deferral of 15% provision due May 1, 2012 
On February 17, 2012, Commissioner of Education Robert Scott announced that school districts can defer implementation of the statutory provision that requires performance on an end-of-course (EOC) assessment to count as 15 percent of a student's final course grade for the 2011-12 school year only. 

Currently, about three-quarters of Texas school districts have opted to defer implementation of the 15 percent rule. TEA has made a list of those districts available.
For districts that have not yet notified TEA of their decision to defer the 15 percent provision, the deadline to notify TEA of that decision is a couple of weeks away. The superintendent or another district-level administrator authorized by the superintendent must notify TEA of the district's decision by May 1, 2012, by sending a brief email to the commissioner at:
