Welcome, New Board Members!
Congratulations from the Texas Association of School Boards on being elected to your local school board. There is no greater contribution than serving as a member of the leadership team that provides educational opportunities for the children in your community! TASB was formed by Texas school board members in 1949 to assist local trustees and their districts. That means that TASB is YOUR organization and exists to serve you. We provide a wide variety of programs and information to assist you and your district whatever your needs may be.
Please visit the links under TASB Overview at the left of your screen. These are designed to acquaint you with your Association, its history, its services, and its officers and staff. Under the heading Training + Events, you can learn about continuing education requirements and the variety of conferences and training opportunities available from TASB.
The links provided in the More Options box on this page are designed to take you quickly to other resources particularly useful to new board members. Select Audio Orientation to earn your first hour of credit by listening to a discussion that provides an overview of your new job. On the Suggested Reading
page, you will find links to various documents and publications designed to help you begin your board service successfully. Your superintendent may have some of these publications on hand, so check before you place an order. Listen to a Leadership Team Briefing with Kay Douglas:
