Cristina Ruiz Blanton, Staff Attorney
Cristina Ruiz Blanton joined the Legal Services Division as a Staff Attorney in August 2010.
Cristina graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Finance from the University of Texas-Pan American in 2000 and received her law degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in 2004. Before joining TASB, Cristina worked in private practice where she served as legal counsel to Texas cities, providing specialized focus in employment and election matters. As city attorney, Cristina conducted trainings for newly elected officials in the areas of Open Meetings and Public Information, in addition to presenting at various seminars on election practices, procedures, and employment matters.
Cristina also served as a staff attorney with the Texas Secretary of State's Elections Division. During her tenure with the Secretary of State, Cristina assisted counties, cities and schools with election issues, conducted election training for all governing bodies and provided assistance to governing bodies with Spanish translation of election materials and compliance with federal law standards. Cristina also has civil litigation experience and has prosecuted misdemeanor cases as an assistant county attorney.
