Mark McHargue, Staff Attorney
After graduating from law school, Mark moved to Austin, Texas and began work as an attorney with the Texas Legislative Council and the Texas Senate from 1990 to 1994. He then moved to the Secretary of State’s office and practiced primarily as an election law attorney for 11 years. During that time Mark was elected to the Leander Independent School District Board of Trustees and served for over 11 years; including three years as the board president. In 2004, Mark moved to the Texas Association of School Boards and began working as a consultant to school boards throughout the state. In May of 2009, Mark moved to TASB’s legal division. He is a frequent speaker at TASB conferences, seminars and workshops.
Mark is an honors graduate of Texas Tech University and a graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law. He has also completed course work for board members of non-profit organizations through the Executive Education Program at Harvard University.
