Inside HR Services

HR Services’ Member Library update includes new model contracts

HR Services’ Member Library was just updated to include some important new information. Administrators should note that there are some changes to TASB’s model contracts as well as helpful additions to the library’s content.

TASB Legal Services revised our model employment contracts and addenda to include the following:

  • A provision to allow the district to show that an employee agreed to submit to a national criminal history check
  • A statement to notify 10-month employees that they will be paid over 12 months (in accordance with Internal Revenue Service 409-A regulations)
  • An addition to the Retire/Rehire Addendum acknowledging that retired employees hired to teach in acute shortage areas may be subject to nonrenewal because the district must give preference to certified applicants who aren’t retired

Other changes include the following:

  • HR Reporting Requirements. This new section identifies and describes federal and state reports that school district HR departments must complete.
  • Sample Personnel Action Form. This new form can be used to document personnel actions (e.g., change in status, pay, or name).
  • Sample Job Description—Chief HR Officer. This job description was updated to reflect the strategic role of the district’s top HR administrator.
  • HR Department Activities. Topics were updated to include relevant No Child Left Behind reporting deadlines.

HR Services membership hits all-time high

HR Services added 14 new member districts for 2007–08, bringing our total membership to 930 districts, an all-time high number. We appreciate your business!
